I work with professional singers and bands 1:1 in-person at my San Francisco studio, and around the world via virtual voice lessons. I train my clients like athletes, because I believe that singers are in fact athletes. We work tirelessly to achieve small incremental nuances that ultimately transform our whole performance. From alleviating vocal fatigue to staying on-pitch, I know how to help you uplevel your voice into your most expressed self.

THE Vocal CoachinG Process

Together we’ll unlock stagnant habits and create fresh neuromuscular pathways within your voice. I use vowel tuning, teaching you balanced air-blow over your vocal cords and relating what you hear in your resonance to the physical sensations you feel in your body while singing, integrating the “parts” of your unique voice. As these elements begin to work together seamlessly, your voice flows with ease, strength and with fresh dynamism – making you a more confident and self-assured singer.

With online (or in-person voice lessons in San Francisco), we’ll develop your vocal technique healthfully and with skill, using incisive cause and effect instruction to build strength, agility, and power while avoiding vocal fatigue.

Oftentimes, the extrinsic muscles surrounding the larynx (where the vocal cords are located) become overly involved in the singing process, causing tension that prevents the vocal cords from opening and closing comfortably. Stabilizing the larynx and allowing for medium vocal cord closure frees you up to pronounce lyrics with clarity and from a relaxed physical state that preserves stamina and prevents injury.

The most challenging areas of the voice to maintain a stable larynx occur in the bridges. A bridge is merely a passage area (known as “passagi” in classical technique and a “break” in contemporary singing) where you shift from one register of your voice to another. By learning proper bridging of the vocal registers, you’ll have control of your voice—no cracking, flipping, strain, or hoarseness--and be able to sing in total continuity.

Are you ready to build your voice and love it?

What will my first online voice lesson entail?

All new clients begin with an initial evaluation during our first session. I'll learn in-depth about your vocal history and how I can best help you. I'll assess your voice to determine your physical strengths and weaknesses in the current moment. Most importantly, I will create a custom vocal workout just for you! We'll upgrade and add to it over sessions as you progress.

Sessions are available via Zoom. I’ll be playing scales on a keyboard, hitting the first chord and then letting you sing. (This prevents awkward lagging from online platforms.)

First, we warm up. Then we move into strength-building vowel and scale work. Lastly, we can work on songs that are challenging you.

If you have an upcoming performance, recording session, or audition, I will definitely leave time to look at the songs you've got going and isolate sections that are bothering you, so you'll know exactly how to practice outside of our time together.

All sessions are recorded digitally and hosted for you via Dropbox for outside practice.
