Along with singers, I have trained many entrepreneurs, authors, and business professionals with both in-person and online speaking lessons, helping them refine their voices and become more self-assured and impassioned speakers.

Your presence is key. It’s what makes someone remember you. When you are able to regulate your nervous system and begin opening your throat chakra (your energy center which governs your voice and your inner truth) you can find flow in your expression and stand in your authentic presence.

Voices are like fingerprints. They are utterly unique. Unlike most vocal coaches, I use two powerful tools — my extensive expertise in vocal technique and my deep level of intuition — rooting my practice in the parallel universes of science and metaphysics. In this way, I hear and feel simultaneously, and I help you to go deep to harness and truly own your voice.

HOW WE’LL UNLOCK YOUR Speaking Voice

My background in theatre equips me with fun, creative exercises to help even the shyest individual come out of their shell during our online speaking lessons and in-person sessions in San Francisco. I often incorporate a little singing into the mix because sung vocal exercises are dynamic and help to build strength and agility – even if you don’t consider yourself a “singer.” We’ll also read various types of spoken copy, developing an emotive skill set and applying it to what you wish to achieve in your overall vocal presentation.

Together we’ll unlock stagnant habits and create fresh neuromuscular pathways to strengthen your speaking voice. I use vowel tuning, teaching you balanced air-blow over your vocal cords and relating what you hear in your resonance to the physical sensations you feel in your body while phonating, integrating the “parts” of your unique voice. As these elements begin to work together seamlessly, your vocal production starts flowing with ease, strength and with fresh dynamism.

Oftentimes, the extrinsic muscles surrounding the larynx (where the vocal cords are located) become overly involved in the speaking process, causing tension that prevents the vocal cords from opening and closing comfortably. Stabilizing the larynx and allowing for medium vocal cord closure frees you up to pronounce words with clarity and from a relaxed physical state that preserves stamina and prevents injury.

Through my online speaking lessons and in-person sessions, we will develop your vocal technique healthfully and with skill, using incisive cause and effect instruction (and a little humor) to build strength and agility to help you wow your colleagues or potential clients with the power of your speaking voice.

Are you ready to work together to become a more emotive and confident speaker?

What will my first online speaking lesson entail?

Online lessons are available via Zoom.

All new clients begin with an initial evaluation during our first session, where I'll learn more about you and your vocal history. I'll assess your voice to determine your physical strengths and weaknesses in the current moment. Most importantly, I will create a custom vocal workout just for you! We'll upgrade and add to it as you progress.

All sessions are recorded digitally and hosted for you via Dropbox for outside practice.

Speaking lesson testimonials

Alisha Ardiana

“Hire her now! Oh my God, such an amazing teacher, instructor, person.

During the California wildfires I really struggled, because my vocal cords were burning when I finished work. I taught at the SPCA, and trying to speak loudly meant that I came home feeling like I had shards of glass in my chest.

Heather helped me find ways to strengthen my vocal cords. She helped me find ways to not put as much stress on them, she helped me find ways to project my voice. She also helped me work on something that was very personal, which was storytelling in public.

As someone with a very loud voice, it was so wonderful to have Heather teach me how to harness my energy. She’s also just a really awesome person. I can’t recommend her enough, and I highly recommend that you work with her.”

“I was so nervous before meeting Heather. It felt like the first day of school. But she is seriously one of the most awesome people I've ever met. Everything about her just made me feel relaxed and willing to learn. She records every lesson so you can track your progress, and the concepts she teaches have helped with my public speaking and phone calls with clients. Overall this is the best experience I could have ever asked for in taking voice lessons, and I look forward to many, many more!”
